These convenient blocks of watercolor paper eliminate the need for stretching. Aquarelle Arches watercolor paper is acid-free, chlorine-free, and made of 100% cotton fibers for extra strength and stability. Arches is mould made. As the paper is tub-sized in natural gelatin and air-dried, it can take scrubbing, scratching, and erasing while keeping the original intensity of the watercolor. Arches uses no optical brighteners so its natural white color will not yellow with age. It is excellent for watercolor, gouache, pen and ink, acrylics, and calligraphy. Each block consists of sheets of paper pre-stretched, glued together along all four edges, and supported by a rigid backing. The Old Holland Oil Color Factory was established in 1644 and is still continuing its tradition; the oldest artist’s paint factory in the world. These oil paints are still manufactured according to the 16th century methods and under the supervision of artists. The old Dutch Masters used Old Holland paint. All of these colors are manufactured using stone rollers which don’t change the color of the paint. Only the purest virgin cold-pressed sunbleached linseed oil is ever used. In the classic Old Holland colors no fillers such as cheap chalk, barium sulphate, aluminum hydrate powders or wax are used. The resulting benefits to the artist using the classic colors are greater covering power, strength of color and the superb intensity of classic color. The paint is packed in soft lead tubes with a thin layer of pewter, as opposed to an aluminum tube which oxidizes within 15 years. Lead tubes last a lifetime. Since this paint consists of pure pigments and oil as opposed to industrially manufactured paints, it cannot be filled mechanically in tubes because the paint is too sticky. The filling of the tubes is done by hand; tube by tube. If Old Holland classic colors seem too strong in color mixing, try mixing the colors with a white oil paint first.

Absent the fillers commonly found in lower priced paints, Classico oils mix beautifully for an exceptional value. Set has twelve 20 ml. tubes including alizarin crimson, vermillion light hue, yellow ochre, permanent yellow light, permanent green light, phthalocyanine green, cobalt blue light hue, ultramarine light, permanent violet bluish, burnt sienna, raw umber and ivory black, and one 60 ml. tube of zinc white. Set also includes 2 white bristle flat brushes sizes 0 and 4, one 75 ml. bottle of paint thinner, 5 sticks vine charcoal, a clip on metal palette cup and a 7 1/2 in. x 11 1/2 in. wood palette.

Because Gallerywrap Stretched Canvases are stapled on the back rather than on the edges, you can paint all four sides and hang them with or without a picture frame. Every Gallerywrap canvas is made from acid free, medium weight cotton duck with a medium texture ??? not too rough and not too smooth. Gallerywrap Stretched Canvases are double primed and provide an excellent support for both oil and acrylic paints. They are mounted on heavy duty, gallery style stretcher frames and are 1 1/2 in. deep.
